The LA Lakers lost, again, to the Houston Rockets, 125-112. That's their fourth loss in a row and their fifth loss out of six games. They are without a healthy center on the roster and flew in Robert Sacre, the final pick in the 2012 NBA draft, just for someone to play in the middle.
After their slow start, which resulted in the firing of coach Mike Brown after just five game, it's going to be very difficult for the Lakers to make the playoffs. ProBasketballTalk.com estimates they'll need to go 30-18 the rest of the way, an unlikely prospect with Dwight Howard and Pau Gasol both out indefinitely and OKC and San Antonio coming up next. They also have their annual Grammy-road trip, where they'll play seven-straight games on the road. Those old dudes aren't built for road trips anymore. Hell, given their injuries this season, they're barely built for the game at all anymore.
And what does that mean moving forward for the Lakers? Dwight hasn't signed anything yet. Why would he now? Unless he has a Lamar Odom-like love for LA, D12 can take his talents anywhere he wants. Deron Williams and co. ain't lookin' so bad under P.J. Carlisemo.
