Out of the Furnace Bombs in Debut

The new animated film Frozen over took Hunger Games: Catching Fire for first place at the box office with $31,641,000 in ticket sales.

The new animated film Frozen over took Hunger Games: Catching Fire for first place at the box office with $31,641,000 in ticket sales. Thor: The Dark World was pushed to fourth place by a less than favorable debut of the gritty thriller Out of the Furnace. Starring Woody Harrelson, Christian Bale, Zoe Saldana, and even Forest Whitaker, the Leonardo DiCaprio produced film still bombed, coming in at third place over all this past weekend with $5,300,000.

The Best Man Holiday fell from a fourth place finish last weekend to eighth place with $2,673,000 in ticket sales.  12 Years a Slave and Black Nativity came in at 13th and 14th place respectively.

Delivery Man, Homefront, The Book Thief, The Best Man Holiday, Philomena: Wein, Dallas Buyers Club and Last Vegas rounded out the top ten.
