After being named as the starting quarterback for the Buckeyes last week and leading his team to a 49-7 victory over Rutgers, Ohio State QB J.T. Barrett ran into trouble as it was confirmed this morning that the Buckeye’s quarterback was arrested overnight for OVI.
According to Eleven Warriors, Columbus Police Department sources said Barrett was arrested early Saturday morning at a checkpoint at High and Tompkins streets on north campus. It was reported that Barrett allegedly tried to avoid the checkpoint. Sources said Barrett was cooperative and blew into a breathalyzer, which registered slightly above Ohio’s legal 0.08 blood-alcohol concentration limit.
Ironically, Barrett was released to teammate and former starting QB Cardale Jones.
The Buckeyes just released the following statement:
“Ohio State University student-athlete J.T. Barrett was cited by Columbus police Saturday morning at a campus area check point with a misdemeanor offense of OVI. Barrett has been suspended by head coach Urban Meyer from playing in Ohio States game against Minnesota on Nov. 7.”
