The basketball festivities are simply an appetizer to some as the sneaker game takes center stage during All-Star Weekend.
The NBA All-Star Weekend festivities tip off tonight with the Rising Stars Challenge, which will feature 20 of the best first- and second-year players in the league.
De’Aaron Fox, Donovan Mitchell, MarvinBagley III, Jayson Tatum, Kyle Kuzma and Trae Young headline a Team USA squad that will knuckle up against 10 of the best young international players that are representing Team World. England, The Bahamas, Serbia, Slovenia, Canada, Latvia, Finland, Nigeria, Turkey, and Australia will be represented, headlined by DeAndre Ayton, Ben Simmons and Luka Doncic.
All-Star Saturday Night is where the real Splash Brothers, Steph and Seth Curry, will look to dethrone defending champ Devin Booker in their return home to Charlotte at the 3-Point Shootout. Then there’s the Skills Challenge and the Dunk Contest, followed by the main event, Sunday’s All-Star Game.
But for many, the basketball festivities are simply an appetizer. To them, these next few days are all about the shoes as the sneaker game takes center stage as well.
Sneakerheads are gassed about the release of the Adapt BB, Nike’s $350 self-lacing, Bluetooth-enabled sneaker. Nike, Jordan Brand, Adidas, Under Armour, and Puma will all be debuting new shoes over the weekend.
Here’s a sneak peak at what’s coming down the pike.
