NBC Kicks Murder She Wrote Reboot to the Curb

NBC is scrapping plans to bring back Murder She Wrote with The Help star Octavia Spencer in the lead role.

NBC is scrapping plans to bring back Murder She Wrote with The Help star Octavia Spencer in the lead role. Actress Angela Lansbury, who earned 12 Emmy nominations for playing mystery writer and amateur detective Jessica Fletcher, is on record as saying the reboot was not a good idea.

“I knew it was a terrible mistake,” Lansbury said. “I didn’t want to sully the memory…Octavia Spencer is a superb actress,” said Lansbury. "She had no business being put into a situation that she couldn’t win.”

Did she say, "sully" the memory?

Yeah, Lansbury went H.A.M. on your girl Octavia. Passive-aggressive Hatorade at its finest. Is it a coincidence that NBC decided to do away with the show because Angela Lansbury spoke out against it? Well, the network will likely say “of course not," but pragmatism makes us think “It could happen.”
