Mother of Sandy Hook Shooting Victim Makes Plea For Gun Control Passage On Obama’s Weekly Address

For the first time since they took office in 2009, someone other than President Obama or Vice President Joe Biden delivered the White House’s Weekly YouTube Address. In his stead, Francine Wheeler, the mother of a six-year-old murdered in the Sandy Hook school massacre delivered the address while her husband David sat silently beside her.

While gun sales have picked up throughout the nation in the panic over potential new gun control legislation, Obama has been traversing the nation with Sandy Hook families in tow on Air Force One to speak with influential Congressmen. While the passage of a bill isn't promised, their efforts contributed to the defeat of a Republican filibuster and assures that there will at least be a debate and vote over expanded gun sale background checks.
