The Minnesota Viking's new stadium isn't scheduled to be completed until 2016, which leaves plenty of opportunity for the team to do its share of floating while waiting on their new home.
They already go heads up with the Steelers in London on September 29, but Vikings V.P. of public affairs and stadium development Lester Bagley didn't rule out the possibility of taking the show back overseas in 2014 and 2015.
From Neil Reynolds at NFLUK.com:
As you will see on an upcoming episode of ‘Inside the Vikings,’ the Minnesota Vikings are open to the idea of playing more regular season games in the UK. I interviewed Vice-President of Public Affairs/Stadium Development Lester Bagley and my final question focused on the potential for more Vikings games in London. He did not rule out that possibility, especially as the Vikings do not move into their new stadium until the summer of 2016. That leaves the 2014 and 2015 seasons as further opportunities for us to watch AP and his teammates in action in the UK. Bagley indicated that the Vikings wanted to see how things went in and around the 2013 game against the Pittsburgh Steelers but it was definitely a possibility for the future. Watch this space!
Vikings fans might rather keep the squad local, even if it does mean watching them play at the University of Minnesota's home stadium. But here's a perfect opportunity for the NFL to brand itself in London in a major way, with the game's best running back in Adrian Peterson possibly making three consecutive trips to Wembley Stadium.
If all goes well, the Minnesota Vikings (of all fanbases) could become a global network.
