Steelers star wide receiver Antonio Brown’s antics have finally reached the boiling point with head coach Mike Tomlin.
After Sunday night’s 18-16 win in the AFC Divisional round of the playoffs against the Kansas City Chiefs, Brown posted a Facebook Live video of Tomlin using explicit language in a spirited post game address to his team. What caused a stir was Tomlin’s description of his AFC Championship opponent New England Patriots.
“We spotted those assholes a day and a half. They played yesterday, our game got moved to tonight. We gonna touch down at 4 oclock in the F’n morning. So be it well be ready for their ass,” said Tomlin.
Tomlin addressed the media yesterday, acknowledging Brown’s video and apologizing for the language he used.
“The language on the video is regrettable because this platform we have is a precious and awesome thing. The responsibility associated with being in this thing, just from a role model standpoint, is something I personally embrace.” said Tomlin.
He also took the opportunity to personally scold Antonio for his rather invasive video.
It was foolish of him to do that. It was selfish of him to do that, and it was inconsiderate of him to do that, Tomlin said. He’s got to grow from this. He works extremely hard. He’s extremely talented but things get minimized. You wear on your teammates when they have to answer questions about things that arent preparation or football-related.
The Steeler coach made it known that Brown will be disciplined for his actions and will likely face a fine. With that out of the way, the team hopes to prepare for Sunday’s AFC Championship against the Patriots without any further distractions caused by this incident.
