Scandal proves yet again that it is the show that will constantly rip the rug out from underneath your feet. Season 3 has a few new twists, including an introduction to main character Olivia Pope’s mother Maya Lewis. Actress Khandi Alexander, best known for her roles on HBO’s Treme, CSI:Miami, The Corner, and ER, will take on the recurring role of Olivia’s dead mother. Fans of the show are becoming familiar with Pope’s issues since childhood about the presumed death of her mother in a plane crash. Alexander will appear in flashbacks during this Thursday’s episode.
