Marc Gasol re-ups with the Grizzlies

NBA free agency has been fast and furious, with many players moving teams and many players becoming multi-millionaires. But one name remained a pretty surefire bet to remain with his team, and that was Marc Gasol of the Memphis Grizzlies.

The Grizzlies wanted him back and the All-Star center did not want to meet with any other teams, good news for both parties.

As a result, they both had a happy ending to free agency as Ken Berger of CBSSports.com reported that both sides agreed to a five-year, $110 million contract. The deal includes a player option after the fourth year.

Last season, Gasol averaged 17.4 points, 7.8 rebounds, 3.8 assists and 1.6 blocks per game. He earned All-NBA First Team honors and was voted to be an All-Star starter.

Gasol will officially sign his new long-term maximum contract after the free agency moratorium ends on July 9.
