Lightning Strikes Thunder: Russell Westbrook Out Indefinitely After Injuring Knee

After providing a surge of energy off the bench in Game 1, Kevin McHale made ripples by inserting Patrick Beverly beside Jeremy Lin into the starting lineup. Beverley's biggest play in Game 1 was an ambiguously dirty play, in which he lowered his head, and swiped at the ball while his hip made contact with Westbrook's knee. Houston may not win the series, but almost two days later, Beverley's play has made waves that will ripple throughout the league. Not only will Game 3 mark the first time Westbrook misses a game in his career, losing the league's most explosive point guard  may also sink the Thunder's title hopes.

Via ESPN:

Oklahoma City Thunder point guard Russell Westbrook will have surgery to repair a torn meniscus in his right knee and be out indefinitely.

General manager Sam Presti said Friday that the Thunder had not yet scheduled Westbrook's surgery and would not have an accurate timeline for his return until after the procedure was done.
