The late Richard Pryor is considered by many to be the most influential standup comedian of all time. Not just the funniest black comedian, but the most influential, bar none. There has been talk of a Pryor biopic for years, but each attempt has been shelved. But that may be about to change. Director Lee Daniels (Lee Daniels’ The Butler) is reportedly in discussions with the Weinstein Company to make it a reality. Actors Michael B. Williams (Fruitvale Station), Marlon Wayans and Eddie Murphy are each under consideration to star in the film. Eddie Murphy was the front-runner years ago, but Marlon was considered ideal for the role up until recently. Jordan has since reportedly surpassed them both. However, there are concerns whether the 26-year-old actor has the chops to pull off portraying Pryor, who died in 2005 at 65-years-old.
