Kenyon Martin Is Going Into Year No. 2 As Knicks’ Interior Backup Plan

Kenyon Martin didn't even spend a full season with the Knicks, but basketball heads got used to seeing him in the New York unis pretty quickly.

As a 13-year veteran at 35 years old, Martin's assumed role is that of a player who might get in 15 to 20 minutes a game, at the most. It's just that the Knicks are a bit fragile, tend to be injury prone and need reliable backups (like most professional teams). Martin filled in for the injured Tyson Chandler and Amare Stoudemire, and even started a few games for the Knicks.

The veteran was reliable enough to get a one-year league minimum offer to return to the squad and help them pursue Eastern Conference supremacy as was expected when Carmelo Anthony first came to town in 2011.
