Jimbo Fisher Leaves Florida State, Accepts Texas A&M Job

Florida State coach Jimbo Fisher has reportedly agreed to become the new head coach at Texas A&M and will not coach the Seminoles against Louisiana-Monroe this weekend.

Fisher became FSU’s head coach in 2010, taking over for Bobby Bowden after being named head-coach-in-waiting and offensive coordinator in 2007. He won 19 games in his first two seasons, then went 39-3 with three ACC titles over the next three campaigns from 2012-2014. In 2013, with Jameis Winston at quarterback, the Seminoles went 14-0 and won the national championship, the programs first since 1999.

The Seminoles entered this year as the preseason No. 3 team in the country, but head into their final game at disappointing 5-6. They need a win against Louisiana-Monroe on Saturday to extend its bowl game streak to 36 straight seasons.

FSU will reportedly turn look to hire Willie Taggart, the current Oregon head coach.
