Jay Z and Barney’s: Talk To Us, HOV!

Hip-hop royalty, rapper Jay Z, could be on the verge of losing millions of dollars. Earlier this week, there were reports of two young African-Americans stopped for racial-profiling while shopping at high-end store Barney's in Manhattan. 19-year-old Trayon Christian and 21-year-old Kayla Phillips reportedly said they were approached and questioned about purchases by NYPD in the store.

While the purchased items in question were not even from the Jay Z holiday collection line, the rapper is under harsh scrutiny from the Black community and his fans for not immediately canceling his million dollar contract with Barney's. Protest action has gone as far as a 1,600+ supporter-signed petition requesting Jay Z cancel his deal. One fan even went as far as to say:

"That could be his family Barneys is profiling. They would’ve done the same thing to him back in the day, before he got to where he is now. He should remember that."

The rapper previously said that a proceed of his earnings from the holiday collection would be donated to helping students pay for college.

The high-end store has already issued an apology stating:

"Barneys New York believes that no customer should have the unacceptable experience described in recent media reports, and we offer our sincere regret and deepest apologies. We are a strong proponent of equal rights and equal treatment for all human beings. Our mission is to ensure that all customers receive the highest-quality service — without exception."
