ESPN is reporting that New York Knicks guard J.R. Smith will be suspended for the first five games of the regular season without pay, for violating the NBA Anti-Drug policy. It’s already known that J.R. Smith will miss the beginning of the season due to his recovery from offseason knee surgery. As it states in the article, the suspension will begin as soon as he's physically eligible to play.
“The NBA says Smith's suspension will begin with the first game of the season for which he is eligible and physically able to play.”
It seems that once again J.R. Smith’s actions are making the Knicks look bad, but should we be surprised? Nope. A lot of athletes out there happen to use drugs these days, it just so happens that J.R. Smith is one of those that got caught. Knick fans should look on the bright side of this, with this 5 game suspension, he has more time to recover from his knee surgery and to think about what he has done.
