J-Kidd Pleads Guilty to DWI

Jason Kidd’s first coaching gig will begin with him teaching Long Island students about the dangers of drunk driving. Kidd pled guilty to a DWI charge today, after crashing his vehicle last July.

From USA TODAY:

"Because of his status as a professional athlete Mr. Kidd is the perfect person to reinforce the important message we've been trying to send, which is don't drink and drive," Suffolk County District Attorney Thomas Spota said in a statement.

Kidd caught a huge break for a variety of reasons. His only punishment will likely be a 90-day license suspension, but he could have fatally injured himself or someone else. Not even the point guard with the greatest vision of his era is immune to the impairment of alcohol. Lesson to all athletes, hire a driver or call a cab, just don't get behind the wheel drunk.
