The emotional roller coaster that Isaiah Thomas has been on since his sister Chyna died in a tragic plane crash on April 15th right before the Celtics played the Chicago Bulls in the NBA playoffs.

He was shattered by the loss, but used it as motivation to play the best basketball of his career and had the Celtics looking the part of a No. 1 Eastern Conference seed.

Thomas made-for-Hollywood moment came to a halt when a right hip injury that he sustained in March was reaggravated against Cleveland early in the playoffs, signaling his premature exit from a playoffs in which he was establishing himself as a bonafide franchise star.

Thomas has visited one hip specialist and plans to see others. He told Celtics coach Brad Stevens that he intends to get “one or two more opinions” before a course of action is set.

Surgery is an option as the Celtics have described Thomas’ condition as a tear in his hip. Celtics brass has already said that Thomas wont play again this season, even if the they push the defending champion Cavaliers beyond five games in the Eastern Conference finals.

Stevens says Thomas hip is still sore and inflamed.
