Let's face it, we don't get that Diamondbacks-Dodgers brawl from last Tuesday if everyone in the situation acts like grown-ups. Unfortunately for Ian Kennedy, he was noted as the immature one when he beamed Yasiel Puig and Zack Greinke with high inside pitches that could be considered lethal weapons in a civilize society.
It was officially on after that.
Suspensions ensued and with Kennedy being the instigator, his 10-game hit seemed in order at the very least. Kennedy let go of the formal appeals process and began serving his time Monday.
It seems like once Kennedy realized he was only going to miss one start and it wouldn't impact the team all that much, everything was gravy. But he's clowning himself on this "first offense" nonsense. Hitting Puig on the nose was his first offense. Going at Greinke was No. 2. Athletes can get self-righteous like this, though.
Seems like the quicker the D-Backs can get past this, the better off the National League West contenders will be. They are, after all, in the most wide open division in the NL.
