The Jackson State Tigers have dominated their first four opponents this season to the tune of outscoring them a combined 190-37.
The FAMU Rattlers, Tennessee State Tigers, Grambling State Tigers and Mississippi Valley State Delta Devils were thoroughly embarrassed by Pro Football Hall of Famer Deion Sanders and his Jackson State squad. For their efforts, the Tigers are clearly the class of the SWAC and one of the better teams in all of FCS football.
Sitting at 4-0, the Tigers now embark on their bye week. Coach Prime, who’s familiar with bye weeks from his time in the NFL, also knows the traps that come with all that extra idle time that’s usually consumed by football, school and daily life. Without football for a week the players have more free time, which if not spent wisely could cause some unwanted and unnecessary challenges.
Sanders knows that his team is in the cusp of accomplishing something historic. He also knows that too much confidence can lead to a letdown. In an effort to prepare his team, Sanders gave a heartfelt speech, and he didn’t sugarcoat anything. Football aside, Sanders is molding boys into men, and he doesn’t take it lightly.
SO CLEAN WE'RE DIRTY! This is a monumental moment FOR ALL OF US AT HBCUs. @GoJSUTigersFB on the cover but lets not forget this is about ALL OF US. #CoachPrime @ShedeurSanders @TravisHunterJr @SInow @SMAC pic.twitter.com/IP3AQtgXoo

His speech was blunt and direct, a microcosm of who Coach Prime is.
Sanders Tells His Players Don’t Make Life-Changing Mistakes You’re Gonna Regret:
While some may view Sanders’ speech as too much, he’s speaking truth to his players.
“I don’t want anybody to go to jail. I don’t want nobody to do something stupid, I don’t want nobody to get somebody pregnant, I don’t want nobody to put they hands on somebody they shouldn’t be putting their hands on, and I don’t want nobody taking nothing that ain’t yours.”
Sanders finished with this:
“Be smart, tough, fast and disciplined — with character.”
Coaching goes beyond the X’s and O’s, and when you sit in those recruits’ homes and tell their parents you’re going to take care of their child, keep it a hundred with them and not spare any feelings; they’ll thank you for it in the long run.
Coach Prime And Tigers Have Eyes Set On Another SWAC Title
After winning the program’s first SWAC title since 2007 last season, Coach Prime and the Tigers have their eyes set on repeating. He’s making sure his players know what’s at stake as they get this in-season break. It’s a time to kick their feet up for a sec, heal from the nicks and bruises of the early season and prepare to come back even stronger when they take the field against the winless Alabama A&M Bulldogs on Oct. 8.
The game dubbed the 2022 Gulf Coast Challenge will take place at Ladd-Peebles Stadium in Mobile, Alabama.
An Alabama A&M coach said he needed a scooter because his "ankle hurt" – an obvious jab at @DeionSanders.@GoJSUTigersFB won the game by 46 and Deion left a pink scooter for him at the 50.

It will be Sanders against Bulldogs head coach Connell Maynor, whom Sanders left a pink scooter for at midfield following last season’s 61-15 Tigers dismantling of the Bulldogs.
The scooter was in response to Maynor making a joke about Sanders using a scooter to get around following Coach Prime’s first surgery on his feet.
As we all know, Sanders‘ health took a major turn that nearly cost him his life a few weeks later.
