HoopBus Helps Fight Racial Injustice on Coast to Coast Trip

If you’ve never heard of the HoopBus, you might think it’s just a funny-looking, run-down school bus. In reality, it’s much, much more than that. It’s a cornucopia of culture and social awareness on wheels, created earlier this year as a way to spread love through the game of basketball.

The Venice, CA-based bus has dedicated itself to supporting Black Lives Matter and the fight for social justice, appearing at over 50 protests in LA alone.

The HoopBus was founded by VeniceBall founder and streetball legend Nick Ansom, who has dedicated his life to building community change through basketball.

These IG videos quickly showcase what the HoopBus is all about.

Now, the HoopBus is in the midst of its most ambitious journey yet, driving across the country from Venice, CA to the 2020 March on Washington on August 28. It is making stops in over a dozen cities along the way–including last week in Phoenix where it joined a protest–in order to continue to spread its important message.
