Greg Hardy, who has been alienated by the NFL for incidents of domestic violence, including a 10 game suspension (later reduced to four), is now turning his focus to another extremely physical sport- MMA.
Unable to find another NFL team to sign him, Hardy will now be entering the cage, or at least he’s in training to eventually make that move. According to MMAFighting.com, Hardy, after being cut by the Cowboys, has been training in the Dallas-Ft. Worth area and has gotten some interest from “several promotions” looking to sign the 285 lb former defensive end
In a statement given to MMAFighting.com Hardy stated “I’m very focused and excited to start my MMA career. I’m going to do this the right way, I can assure you of that.”
After a six year NFL career, charges of domestic violence and being hit with a cocaine possession charge last month, Hardy now turns to a sport which has grown rapidly, but which also faces its own issues of domestic violence, the most horrifying being War Machine’s attack on former girlfriend Christy Mack. We’ll see how the sport, promoters and fans react to Hardy when/if he enters the cage.
