Danny Miracle Man Jacobs vs. Sergio Mora

Last August, Danny Jacobs put Sergio Mora on the canvas in the second round, losing his shot at the WBA World Middleweight title that Jacobs had secured from Caleb Truax just four months earlier.

That win was a 12th round knockout and the fifth consecutive win by Jacobs that has resulted in a TKO. To say that Jacobs is putting on a TKO show for the ages is an understatement. His last win after Mora was a TKO win over Peter Quillin in the first round.

So why give Mora a rematch when we have juggernauts in the Middleweight division like Gennady Golovkin? On a recent TSL Power Hour podcast with Ana The Hurricane Julaton and myself, Jacobs revealed that both he and Mora share a manager in Al Haymon, and that had something to do with it.

Also, Mora (28-4-2) has vehemently denied the loss and Jacobs wants to silence all doubters that the win was bogus.

It was no knockdown, said Mora on the pre-fight media call. I’m the one getting punched, by the way. So, I didn’t feel the punch, and it wasn’t definitely just me twisting my ankle. It was Jacobs pushing me down as well.”

Jacobs (31-1) let it be known that his intentions where to clear the air as to the dominance of his victory.

The reasons why he’s saying this fight is being made as far as me ducking him and not wanting to fight him, I mean, that’s absurd, said Jacobs.

Both fighters have something to prove tonight.

Gennady GGG Golovkin vs. Kell Brook

Undefeated Middleweight juggernaut, Gennady Golovkin (35-0, 32 KOs), originally from Karaganda, Kazakhstan, and now training at Big Bear, CA., defends his middleweight crown against fellow undefeated fighter Kell Brook (36-0, 25 KOs), from Sheffield, England, in a scheduled 12-round contest. Brook is the current IBF welterweight champion stepping up to middleweight.

Seeking his 17th consecutive successful 160-pound title defense, Golovkin is drawing closer to Bernard Hopkins record of 20 successful middleweight title defenses. On a 22-bout knockout streak, Golovkin has compiled an extraordinary knockout-to-win ratio of 91%, and no opponent has gone the distance with him since June 2008.

Trained by the highly regarded Abel Sanchez, he will be making his 11th appearance on HBO since his auspicious Sept. 2012 debut on the network.

With a 69% knockout-to-victory ratio, Brook became the British welterweight champion in 2008 after defeating Showtime Shawn Porter controversially. Having defended his title successfully three times, he is moving up two weight classes to take on the formidable Golovkin.

UFC 203: Stipe Miocic vs. Alistair Overeem

UFC Heavyweight champion Stipe Miocic (15-2) represented Clevelands winning ways when he took out Fabricio Werdum in the first round via KO at UFC 198.

He now defends his belt for the first time against Alistair Overeem (41-14) who has been on a tear as late, knocking out Junior Dos Santos and Andrei Arlovski in his four-fight win streak.

With the heavyweight ranks more exciting than ever, it will be interesting to see if Stipe can handle the step up in competition from the Dutch former 2010 K-1 Grand Prix kickboxing champion.

Watch the heavyweights do battle live from the Quicken Loans Arena in Cleveland, Ohio on pay-per-view at 10pm EST / 7pm PST.
