Closing out Black Music Month by reflecting on PE’s iconic “Fight The Power”.
This year, the summer Brooklyn classic, Do The Right Thing turns 30. A mainstay in Black media, the ’89 offering showed what could happen when racism, gentrification, police brutality and everyday confrontations all collide on a hot summer day in the city.
So to close out Black Music Month, we reflect on the Public Enemy track synonymous with the Spike Lee joint, Public Enemy’s “Fight The Power”.
