Aside from the Heat, attendance for professional sports in Miami has been dismal. In their respective leagues, the Florida Panthers are 22nd while the Marlins and Dolphins are 29th. In 2001, the Miami Fusion were contracted during a league-wide restructuring. Talk about a bunch of flops. However, despite those foreboding omens, a new expansion franchise may be cropping up in the area. Maybe it was all of LeBron James' flopping that gave him the idea, but America's soccer savior, David Beckham believes Miami would be a perfect location for MLS' next expansion franchise.

"I think bringing an MLS team here to South Florida would be exciting," Beckham told WFOR-TV in Miami on Saturday. "I think Miami fans are very passionate about the sport and about winning and of course, it would have to be success but it’s definitely exciting."
Beckham visited Sun Life Stadium and the football stadium at Florida International University on Saturday.
Beckham toured the facilities with billionaire Marcelo Claure, who has unsuccessfully tried in the past to return the MLS to South Florida. Beckham attended the Miami Heat's NBA Eastern Conference finals Game 5 victory over the Indiana Pacers on Thursday night as a guest of Claure.
As long as he doesn't suggest that he could make James an all-world goalkeeper, South Beach could be intriguing. However, based on Miami's history, the MLS would be wise to avoid the temptation and steer clear.
