See, the thing about institutional racism is, though it is the culmination of centuries of laws, callous hearts and racist minds, it still needs to be protected. Why? Because it is injustice. In a land created on injustice, anything that brings every facet of society together for one common cause will ultimately meet a dissenter.
In this particular scenario, FoxNews.com executive editor John Moody is that dissenter. He recently voiced his consternation with the diversity of Team USA at the Winter Games in Pyeongchang, South Korea.
Unless its changed overnight, the motto of the Olympics, since 1894, has been Faster, Higher, Stronger. It appears the U.S. Olympic Committee would like to change that to Darker, Gayer, Different. If your goal is to win medals, that wont work, Moody wrote.
Moody, a 64-year-old Cornell University graduate with decades in the business, has long been known as a race-baiting opportunist. He produced three separate stories on Fox News claiming that Barack Obama was raised in a radical Islamic madrassa school as a child, seized on a fake story of a John McCain volunteer who alleged she was attacked by Obama supporters who carved a B in her face, and wrote an editorial attacking Democratic member of the U.S. House of Representatives John Murtha for stating the obvious when said, There is no question that western Pennsylvania is a racist area in describing why the district might not vote for Barack Obama.
Now, here he goes again, doing what people like him do, stir up racial animus among his constituency.
Moody then used another time tested conservative tactic in his argument, drawing on the examples set by innovators and ground-breakers of color to make his point, citing Jackie Robinson and Jeremy Lin as other individuals who triumphed without the need for a handout in the name of diversity.
If someone is denied a slot on a team because of prejudice, thats one thing. Complaining that every team isnt a rainbow of political correctness defeats the purpose of sports, which is competition, wrote Moody. At the Olympic level, not everyone is a winner. Not everyone gets a little plastic trophy to take home.
Indeed, it would appear that Moody believes only white people can compete and win in the Winter Olympics, despite overwhelming evidence to the contrary.
Once upon a time even guys like Moody would try to sugarcoat their racism, but in the current environment his ilk has dispensed with such methods. Dont worry, this isnt the last time a conservative will utter something racist during these Winter Games. Doubly so if someone black wins gold, triply so is those darker, gayer faces performer poorly.
