With his rookie deal nearing an end, the Bengals have secured star wide receiver A.J. Green with a four-year, $60 million contract extension. Green now joins the club of elite receivers who all have signed hefty deals including Julio Jones, Demaryius Thomas and Dez Bryant.
Jones just inked a five-year, $71 million deal while Bryant and Thomas hauled in almost identical five-year, $70 million deals. The specifics of Green’s contract have yet to be spelled out but many speculate the guaranteed money will rival the aforementioned wide outs. Green’s deal will reportedly pay him more money upfront, more total dollars sooner and check in at a higher annual average than Dallas’ Dez Bryant, Denver’s Demayrius Thomas and Atlanta’s Julio Jones.
Well-deserved for a receiver that made four pro bowls in their first four seasons in the league.
