Today, after three years of ups and down and lots of head shaking, the Chip Kelly experiment in Philadelphia is over as the Eagles fired their head coach.
“We appreciate all the contributions that Chip Kelly made and wish him every success going forward,” Eagles owner Jeffrey Lurie said in a statement.
According to CBSSports.com, the team will hold a press conference on Wednesday to officially announce the move. Eagles offensive coordinator Pat Shurmur will handle the team’s coaching duties on Sunday during the Philadelphia’s regular season finale against the Giants.
The team also dumped Ed Marynowitz, the team’s vice president of player personnel who was handpicked by Kelly.
Kelly went 26-21 during his three seasons with the team.
