Charles Oakley To File Civil Suit Against James Dolan and MSG

The Charles Oakley-James Dolan feud just wont end. Last month, Oak accepted a deal stemming from a February scuffle with security at Madison Square Garden. He reluctantly accepted an adjournment in contemplation of dismissal that will lead to the criminal charges being dropped if he stays out of trouble for six months and complies with a condition that prohibits Oakley from trespassing at Madison Square Garden for one year.

Apparently, the one-year ban from MSG didnt provide Oakley, who played for the Knicks from 1988 to 1998 and helped them reach the NBA Finals, with the closure he needed after he was embarrassed, arrested and charged with two misdemeanor counts of assault, one misdemeanor count of aggravated harassment and one misdemeanor count of trespassing.

He was also cited for two additional counts of harassment that are considered non criminal violations. Then he was accused by Knicks owner James Dolan of being drunk and verbally abusive.

Knicks fans shared Oakleys outrage. Most wish that he would have had that scuffle with Dolan himself and put the despised Knicks owner in his place. Instead, Oakley will have to settle for filing a civil suit, which is something he contemplated after accepting the plea deal anyway,

Oakley’s attorney, Alex Spiro, said last month that his client would pursue “all civil remedies” based on the incident. Spiro has stated in the past that for Oakley, the issues stemming from the incident at Madison Square Garden and its fallout have always been a matter of principle.

Oak is obviously still very offended by the way he was treated and his on going battle with Dolan, incited largely by Oakleys candid, critical, but well-intentioned criticism of the organization looks as if it has no chill in sight.
