Film producer and Marvel President, Kevin Feige was joined on stage by Black Panther director Ryan Coogler, who made the announcement.
Feige says “Ryan’s hard at work on another Black Panther film, he has delivered us a treatment that I happen to have right here.” Feige jokingly asked Coogler if they should reveal the name of the film, but decided that it was too soon. There’s no word on what the premise of the sequel will be and whether or not we will see the return of Killmonger.
Before leaving the stage Coogler commented “we’re really hard at work on it, trying to give you guys something special. We’re definitely taking our time with this… We really really want it to be right.”
The Walt Disney Studios showcase at the D23 Expo also revealed new Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker footage, and an announcement that Game of Thrones alum, Kit Harington, has been cast in Marvel’s Eternals.
