Floyd Mayweather tore Canelo Alvarez to pieces along with the notion that there's any question who “The One” might be. There isn't anyone who can touch Money May in the sport of boxing, and Canelo was the latest in a long line of Mayweather victims to enter the ring full of hype and promise only to be dismantled by the greatest boxer of this generation, and one of the greatest defensive fighters of all time.
Mayweather mixed smirks with straight right and left hands all night. Canelo fought hard, but couldn't find his target nearly often enough to make an impact. He was out of his depth, and Mayweather made him pay by catching him at will in another incredible performance.
It wasn't close, again, and we haven't seen Mayweather stretched to the limit of his ability since he came out of retirement in 2009. It looks increasingly like we may never see it again.
Mayweather rolled in with Lil Wayne and Justin Bieber, eliminated his top competition in dominant fashion, and walked off with $45 mil. All in a day’s work.
