College Football proved once again that it is definitely one of the most exciting sports around.
Tonight, after over three hours of hard hits and big plays, the Alabama Crimson Tide defeated the Clemson Tigers, 45 – 40, to claim their fourth title in seven years.
It was a back and forth game, with Deshaun Watson throwing for 405 yards and 4 touchdowns, doing everything he could with both his arms and legs to keep Clemson in the game. But like this weekend’s NFL playoff game in Minnesota, this game was decided on special teams, with Alabama making two big plays on special teams to change the momentum and give Alabama the win. An onside kick and a 95-yard kickoff return for a TD pushed the “tide” in Alabama’s favor, the latter being the one that really had the Tide and their fans in a frenzy.

Derrick Henry ran for 158 yards and 3 TDs, with the last yard being the deciding factor in the game as it gave the Tide the final TD it needed to seal the game. Tight end OJ Howard, not to be outdone, also put on a show with over 200 yards receiving and 2 TDs.
But the telling factor was Alabama scoring 24 points in the fourth quarter, which will always be something extremely difficult to overcome. It wasn’t easy by any means, as they gave up over 500 yards of offense to the Tigers. But with big plays going to the Tide on both offense and special teams, they were ultimately able to take home the crown.
