Alabama came in at No.1 in the USA Today preseason coaches' poll, which means if the Crimson Tide plays up to their expectations, they could capture a third straight national championship and a fourth in the last five years.
Such an accomplishment would be astounding in today's college football environment, with the recruiting hustle and as much player turnover we see. But the Tide is still rolling pretty deep.
The Southeastern Conference in general wrecked shop in this coaches' poll. While Ohio State, Oregon and Stanford followed Alabama at 2, 3 and 4, Georgia rounded out the top five and Texas A&M came in sixth, with one of the four first place votes that didn't go to the Crimson Tide. The Buckeyes received the other three first place votes.
Half of the top 10 is from the SEC and six teams from the conference are in the top 25.
South Carolina is No. 7, Florida is No. 10, No. 8 is Clemson and Louisville at No. 9 round out the top 10. LSU is No. 12.
