Al Pacino To Play Joe Paterno In Upcoming HBO Original Movie

HBO has announced that one of their upcoming original films will be on the Jerry Sandusky sex scandal at Penn State. Sandusky received a 30-60 year prison sentence after being convicted on 45 counts of child sexual abuse involving 10 boys

Legendary-turned-disgraced head coach Joe Paterno will played by Al Pacino. The film will focus on his reaction to Sandusky’s arrest and the fallout at Penn State. 

“After becoming the winningest coach in college football history, Joe Paterno is embroiled in Penn State’s Jerry Sandusky sexual abuse scandal, challenging his legacy and forcing him to face questions of institutional failure on behalf of the victims,” the movie’s official logline reads, per Variety

The film is set to be directed by Barry Levinson.
