The saga of this Adrian Peterson trial has finally come to a close. On Tuesday,Peterson agreed to a plead deal that guarantees he will not serve any jail time. He pled no contest to misdemeanor reckless assault charges. He will face probation, a $4,000 fine, and will have to perform 80 hours of community service.
He will be subjected to random urine tests for two years however he will not have a travel restriction, allowing an opportunity for a comeback. Originally Peterson was indicted on a felony charge of reckless or negligent injury to a child however his reduced charge will not include any references to violence against family or against a minor. The mother of Peterson’s child would like him to play a role in raising the child.
Peterson was never released from the Minnesota Vikings however he was put on the exempt/commissioner’s permission list under the notion that all of this would be further discussed after the trial. This means he can basically play as soon as commissioner Goodell says he can but it still remains unclear if the Vikings would put him on the field anytime soon. Goodell will likely weigh the court’s and public’s reaction to the sentence before making a ruling.
