It has been reported that students on some of our Varsity Teams have set up a ‘Fantasy Slut League’ in which our female students (unbeknownst to most of them) are drafted as part of the league. Male students earn points for documented engagement in sexual activities with female students.
That's a quote from Piedmont High School Principal Rich Kitchens, following the discovery of a sex league in his San Francisco school that went on for five or six years. This is pretty disturbing — though a version of this exists on every college campus in America — but what's even scarier is that we can't even blame it on the Jersey Shore, which somehow crammed six seasons into three years.
There have been several cases of early puberty development recently — the girl in this NYTimes.com article began growing pubic hair at age six — so it's possible this is somehow an extension of that process.
What seems the more likely culprit is the internet, which begs a lot of questions, but, mainly: When are we going to accept that we are now in the information age, kids can use the internet better than Gen X ever could and may ever will, and, therefore, act appropriately by having adult conversations with kids about sex, drinking, and smoking? And yes, I'm talking about weed.
Kids used to be young and naive. Now, thanks to WorldStarHipHop and Wikipedia, we're just young.
