A$AP Rocky is turning heads with his debut album Long.Live.A$AP. When he was originally signed by Sony for a reported $3 million, heads turned and eyebrows went through the roof: Not even Drake, thought to be a sure thing, got $3 mil.
But if anyone still has questions, they're keeping quiet in the wake of Rocky's debut album, the first debut album to top charts in over a year (No, 2 Chainz doesn't quite count. We still see you Titi Boi). The album has already sold 139,000 copies, a strong number but one that pales in comparison to Kendrick Lamar's debut of 240,000 copies. Still, A$AP is crushing the charts with "F*cking Problems" which already has 854,000 downloads.
The reason for Rocky's success? The New York Times credits his wide range of lyrical imagination, eccentricity and dialect. in a 2011 interview with Pitchfork, Rocky discussed what makes up the "pretty motherf*cker" whose style is now taking over the world.
