Anthony Mason Jr. has followed in his legendary fathers footsteps by playing pro basketball throughout his 20’s. Now, as a 30-year-old retired player, Mason has continued to build on his fathers social and sports legacy with his community work and dedication to helping elevate kids in his Queens community.

First Mase Jr. got the court at Springfield High School, where Big Mase first put his ball prowess on the map, renamed Mase Court. Lil’ Mase also worked closely with the Senators and Councilman’s office to get the city to name 147th street and Rockaway Boulevard, Anthony Mason Way.
Now, he is embarking on another blessing to honor his dads athletic relevance, street sense, credibility and fashion steez as The Mase x Ewing collab sneakers dropped on Saturday at the legendary Jamaica Avenue sneaker store in Queens, Jimmy Jazz.
Mase Jr. got with Ewing Athletics and together they produced a sneaker that honors his dad and is lit on the streets.
We wanted to not be like, Oh, this is your dad and your family name, but were going to do everything and put your name on it so heres what we are doing with it. This is your dad, he is one of our favorite players, we are going to give you control of it, Dave Goldberg, who runs Ewing Athletics, says.

Mase Jr is sitting in front of Cuttys Hair Studio in Jamaica, Queens, where his father used to go get all those designs shaved into the side of his head. A big mural of Sr. is painted around the corner.
Like his father, Jr is all about family. He politely interrupts our interview to give one of his aunts a hug.
When he gets up, his Ewing Concepts catch the glow of the July sun. Hes wearing the colorway that he designed as a tribute to his father. Theres a halo on both the tongue and the heel collar and MASON is written across the back.
Anthony Masons legend continues to grow even in his death and that can be attributed to his son continuing to keep his name relevant and the people he touched along the way on and off the court.
