The NBAs Super Team sickness has seemed to inflict another future Hall of Famer who has played on teams that were really good, but never equipped enough to battle with the juggernauts of the league.
According to numerous reports, LA Clippers point guard Chris Paul will give the San Antonio Spurs “serious consideration” if he decides to test free agency this offseason. Paul has an early-termination option in his contract and can become a free agent this summer. Sources believe the Spurs are considered a lock to at least secure a face-to-face meeting with Paul in free agency.
Paul, a nine-time NBA All-star and four-time First Team All-NBA selection, spent six years building the New Orleans Hornets franchise, bringing respectability and superstar production to the court every night. He joined the LA Clippers in 2011 and spearheaded the greatest era in franchise history. The Clippers have been to the playoffs every season since Paul’s arrival, but haven’t advanced past the Conference semifinals. He survived the Kobe Bryant Era and the Donald Sterling situation and eventually and remarkably helped the Clippers become just as exciting an attraction as its star-studded big brother Lakers.
Chris Paul HD Career Mix – Born to Do
Chris Paul is nothing but amazing on the basketball court, I don’t need to say more, just watch the video yourselves and agree with me 🙂 The song is “Born to Do” by Steven Cooper.
CP3 is another baller who is a championship ring short of completing an illustrious run as an all-time NBA great. Hes still productive and despite missing NBA All-star festivities for the first time in a long time, Paul is still the purest of point guards in the NBA. His ability to distribute and his pass-first mentality is a lost art, and can be extremely beneficial, especially during playoff runs.
His closest friends are LeBron James, Dwyane Wade and Carmelo Anthony and we know how Wade and LBJ teamed up to make history and save LeBrons legacy. Melo hasnt been as fortunate and he’s said that he envies his brothers championship success. Melo is almost stuck with the Knicks and in a terrible situation.
Paul has seen the advantages of going to a loaded squad and playing with close friends. Hes maxed out in LA. Doc Rivers is moving on soon and so is Blake Griffin and probably DeAndre Jordan. Jamal Crawford is over-the-hill and the future in LA doesnt look half as bright as it did in the past.
Now is as good a time as any for Paul to do the Championship bailout plan that has become so popular. Why not join the Spurs ? The addition of Paul definitely makes them stronger, especially with Manu Ginobili contemplating retirement and Tony Parker in the twilight of his career. The Spurs are loaded with potential MVP Kawhi Leonard, All-Star forward LaMarcus Aldridge, two-time NBA champ Pau Gasol and a slew of specialists on both sides of the ball and of course, the standard for NBA coaching in 5-time champ Gregg Popovich.
Hes not LeBron James, but Paul is definitely a super upgrade as a point guard and elevates the Spurs talent level and what Gregg Popovich will be able to do on the court.
Dont blame CP3 for wanting what everybody wants. What King James and Kevin Durant wanted. He certainly isnt going to win the chip on the Clippers. Forming another Super Team is the only way to go. Its the easiest way to go. And thats OK now.
