The BIG3 just keeps on getting bigger and better with every signing. Yesterday, the league founded by entertainment mogul Ice Cube and business partner Jeff Kwatinetz added its biggest name to date. That’s right, Julius Errrrrrrrrrving! He’ll be coaching, but the very idea of him being involved in the game in any capacity is exciting.
Dr. J will be among the league’s eight coaches. He’ll be coaching against Allen Iverson, Charles Oakley, George Gervin, Clyde Drexler, Rick Barry and Rick Mahorn, and there’s still a name yet to be announced.
BIG3 is radioactive-hot with star power and the final rosters aren’t even set yet.
Iverson, Chauncey Billups, Jason Williams, Corey Maggette, Mike Bibby, Rashard Lewis, Jermaine ONeal, Kenyon Martin, Al Harrington, Stephen Jackson, Bonzi Wells, Ricky Davis, Dermarr Johnson and more names are being announced every day.
This is an extraordinary moment for BIG3,” said Ice Cube. “In securing Dr. J as a coach, we have brought on one of the most iconic basketball players in history. I cannot wait to see him coach these basketball legends.
Barclays Center in Brooklyn will be the first stop for BIG3 in the 10-week season, with games in a different city each weekend this summer. Four games will take place on the same day in the same venue, so that fans get the full experience.
The league tips off on June 25th.
