Saul Canelo Alvarez vs. Amir King Khan
The boxing layman might scratch his head profusely, with confusion, over why Amir Khan would challenge himself this way.
Saul Alvarez (46-1), also known as Cinnamon aka Canelo in Spanish, has more KOs at 32 and counting than Khan (31-3) has wins. The Guadalajara standout has been winning belts since he was 18 years old and his only loss is to the self-proclaimed Best Ever, Floyd Mayweather, Jr.
But then, like Roger Mayweather said, …You dont know sh*t about boxing.
Forget the naysayers looking past this fight, hoping to see their man-crush of a Canelo Alvarez vs. Gennady Golovkin fight finally get a date. Forget that Amir Khan lost to Danny Garcia and to Lamont Peterson and remember that this kid always shows up to fight.
Khan has won belts in three weight classes and left a body count along the way of notables like Paulie Malignaggi, Marcos Maidana, Zab Judah, Devon Alexander and Chris Algieri. For all the hype surrounding the future, those who know boxing remember that after Khan lost his first fight to Breidis Prescott in the first round, he switched trainers to Freddie Roach and dominated the lightweight and Super light weight division for three years until a controversial loss to Lamont Peterson.
After he lost to Danny Garcia, citing a lack of defensive training expertise by Roach, he switched to Virgil Hunter. Again, dominant for another three years piling up jewelry along the way.
Now, stepping up to Middleweight to challenge the only pay-per-view star since the exit of Manny Pacquaio, Khan shows why we love boxing and to those writing this off as a stepping stone for Canelo vs. Triple G, don’t rush to judgment.
Watch Saul Canelo Alvarez take on Amir King Khan live from the new T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas on HBO PPV 9pm EST/6pm PST

UFC Fight Night: Overeem vs. Arlovski
The veterans matchup in Holland to close out the weekend as Alistair The Reem Overeem (40-15) takes on Andrei The Pit Bull Arlovski (25-11).
Both have had extensive fighting careers on a global scale for years, and with both of them in the UFC at the same time, the time was ripe for an epic battle between the two big men.
Overeem scored a big win when he KOd former UFC Heavyweight champion Junior Dos Santos last December and Stefan Struve the year before that. Having been a standout kick boxer and one of the most talented big men, Overeem is looking to get a win in his home country this weekend.
Arlovski has the true veteran’s story of winning the UFC Heavyweight belt in 2005, then losing it a year later after two title defenses. Arlovski struggled to stay at the top and bounced around smaller MMA promotions until he finally made it back to the UFC in 2014.
Since then, he has chocked up wins over Travis Browne, Antonio Silva and former UFC heavyweight champion Frank Mir.
Look for fireworks from these two big men as the UFC Heavyweight division heats up with contenders looking to dethrone champion Cain Velasquez.
