Today it was announced that Andre Johnson was going to be released after one season with the Colts. Johnson became the latest big name to be released as NFL teams seek to reduce salaries and sign players.
Marques Colston, the long time receiver for the Saints’, and also the team’s all-time leader in receiving yards, yards from scrimmage, receiving touchdowns, total touchdowns, and total receptions, was the first notable name to be released earlier this week after spending his entire career with the Saints.
Now there are more notable names to add to this growing list, which includes Bills’ defensive end Mario Williams, Texans’ running back Arian Foster, Panthers’ defensive end Charles Johnson and Jets cornerback Antonio Cromartie. In addition, it is rumored that the Browns will be releasing troubled quarterback Johnny Manziel, but that’s not expected to happen until closer to the season due to financial ramifications.
