Almost 30 years after the Jamaican bobsled team shattered stereotypes by qualifying for the 1988 Winter Olympics, the Caribbean nation can add another victory to their list of sports “firsts.”
Today Yona Knight-Wisdom made history by becoming the first Jamaican male diver to qualify for the Olympics. At the FINA Diving World Cup prelims in Rio, Yona scored 397 in the 3M dive, earning him a spot in the Olympics in Brazil later this year.
Big up Yona!
