In a shocking turn of events Bears embattled wide receiver Brandon Marshall is being traded to the New York Jets for a fifth round pick. The Bears have typically cited Marshall’s behavior on and off the football field, his injuries, and a locker room incident as the driving force behind the organization’s decision to part ways with arguably the greatest receiver in franchise history.
He had seven straight 1,000 yard seasons before falling off last year. The Bears wanted to keep Cutler and Marshall together since the two have been friends and when healthy, exhibit a powerful chemistry, but a parting of the ways was mutual. With the firing of head coach Marc Trestman (the supposed QB whisperer) this is an organization focused on rebuilding. So are Jets, and one man’s trash is another man’s treasure. This move is rather intriguing if you think about. The Jets went from having no one to catch the ball to having Brandon Marshall, Percy Harvin, and Eric Decker all lining up for Geno Smith. This is a make or break season for Geno, so the Jets are getting him the most help possible.
