Just when you thought that things couldn’t get any worse for the battered and bruised Chicago Bears defense, it did. All-Pro cornerback Charles Tillman has been placed on the IR after suffering a triceps injury.
From Pro Football Talk :
“It hurts. I’m definitely sad. We have a lot of potential. My role is now to be the biggest cheerleader I can,” Tillman said, via the team.
With just seven weeks left in the regular season and an eight week minimum before Tillman would be eligible to play again, any Tillman return would have to wait until the playoffs. For the Bears to make that a possibility, they’ll likely need to have Jay Cutler healthy and playing at a high level.
With seven weeks remaining in the regular season and their defense already in shambles and Jay Cutler banged up, things aren’t looking good for the Bears going forward. Their defense is 23rd against the run and 31st against the run This isn't your father's Bears defense. Or it is and that's the problem. They are getting old and with injuries decimating their roster, Chicago should feel lucky that their remaining schedule features a slew of winnable games, but at the same time their injuries make things more challenging in the NFC North.
