The Josh Freeman era in Tampa Bay finally came to an end, when the Buccaneers could not find a trade partner for him, despite promising to call every team in the league. He was cut on Thursday afternoon, according to Adam Schefter.
Though it may seem like an abrupt end to what was once a budding relationship, coach Greg Schiano had eyes on another quarterback, Mike Glennon, since long before he arrived in the NFL. From the beginning, it seemed like Schiano wanted Freeman out, and seemed completely incapable of handling the situation properly. Quarterbacks replace quarterbacks in the NFL all the time. The Bucs just did Freeman dirty.
However, at least this story is now over, and both parties can go about their business in what was an inevitable conclusion. It's not much surprise that no one bit on Tampa Bay's trade bait as the Bucs had little to no leverage. Now, Freeman can sign with the team of his choosing, and we here at TSL hope he gets a better coach than Greg Schiano.
