Justin Tuck recently discussed Victor Cruz's contract situation (by that way, talking about someone else's money ranks just under "sending d*ckpics over Twitter" on the scale of ideas that work out well for everyone) saying he thinks Cruz should show up to voluntary offseason workouts as a sign of good faith.
Whether or not Cruz does or doesn't show up to these workouts is secondary — in fact, he's already been working out with Giants QB Eli Manning — to this myth of good faith. It's strange coming from a player who recently lamented the loss of several key Giants.
"It is surprising but you also understand the business side of it. At times like this you wish those guys wouldn't have been part of it, but it happened and hopefully — there are some people who speculate we may have a chance of getting some of them back later on — but either way you just wish them wherever they end up success and hope that they continue with their great careers."
For the record, "those guys" include Ahmad Bradshaw and Osi Umenyiora, who got the same kind of good faith as Ed Reed and Anquan Boldin got from the Baltimore Ravens. They're another team who just signed their quarterback to a large deal while bumping other veterans, the only position that seems to garner any sort of faith whatsoever.
Of course, it's easy to for Tuck to talk now. He's entering the final year of his contract and with all those vets gone, his payday is in sight. Still, he should probably get it in writing.
