Hulk Hogan Can’t Feel His Legs | Kurt Angle Reveals Trials And Physical Tribulations Of WWE Legend

One of wrestling’s most famous characters, Hulk Hogan, is going through a tumultuous time as he cannot feel his lower body after a recent back surgery. Fellow wrestling legend Kurt Angle revealed what Hogan is going through on “The Kurt Angle” podcast.

Angle ran into the 69-year-old wrestling legend during the Jan. 23 ‘Monday Night Raw” in Philadelphia, the 30th anniversary show dubbed “RAW XXX.” During the event, Hogan privately told Angle what he was going through.

What Happened To Hulk Hogan?

“Hogan had his back surgery again; he had the nerves cut from his lower body. He can’t feel his lower body,” he said during an episode of ‘The Kurt Angle Show.” “So he’s using his cane to walk around. I thought he was using the cane because he had pain in his back. He doesn’t have any pain. He has nothing at all. He can’t feel anything.

“So now he can’t feel his legs. So he has to walk with a cane which is, you know, that’s pretty serious, man.”

Hulk Hogan The Wrestling Legend

The trials and tribulations of former wrestlers are well known. The injuries can be voluminous and include a variety of “concussions, scrapes, bruises, tongue cuts, the more common knee and shoulder injuries and cauliflower ear,” according to the University of Rochester Sports Medicine. Many wrestlers will undergo surgeries and treatments for the injuries. Former wrestlers have also become addicted to painkillers or hard drugs and alcohol to cope with years of abusing their bodies.

Cue Mickey Rourke’s painstaking portrayal of the sport in the movie “The Wrestler.”

Additionally, often the demands are hoisted upon a professional wrestler to be physically fit as the product, stay alert and in character and work strenuously long hours year after year with little to no breaks while traveling. That bleeds into mental health, and a dependence on drugs can develop, but physically, wrestlers, like most athletes, are required to perform through injuries.

“I mean, I really feel for Hogan. He put his heart and soul into the business and ate him up,” Angle continued. “I mean, if you’re gonna kick off the show, the 30th anniversary of Raw, [it] should be Hulk Hogan. He’s the name and face of the company. He’s the guy that revolutionised pro wrestling. I have so much respect for him.”

As one of the most well-known wrestlers of all time, Hogan, along with Andre the Giant, Ric Flair, The Undertaker, and more, created the foundation that made the WWE one of the most successful brands in sports entertainment. Hogan has had his share of controversial moments.

The Hulk Hogan Controversy

In 2015, the WWE cut ties with Terry “Hulk Hogan” Bollea over an audio recording where Hogan said, “I guess we’re all a little racist,” and he was heard using the n-word while referring to his daughter’s romantic partner. Although Hogan regretted the racial gaffe, calling it the “biggest mistake” of his life in 2007, it left a blemish on his career. He was even dropped from the WWE Hall of Fame as a result.

Three years later, in 2018, the company reinstated him into the Hall after making “numerous apologies and working with young people, where he is helping them learn from his mistake,” the organization said at the time.
