“I Brought In A Stripper And Had Her Dance For Nick Saban” | Former Dolphins Linebacker Channing Crowder Details The Stunt That Saban Wanted No Parts Of

Long before former NFL player Channing Crowder was one of the co-hosts of the popular “The Pivot Podcast” and Alabama Crimson Tide head coach Nick Saban was winning national championships, it seems like every year the two were player and head coach with the Miami Dolphins. Saban and the Miami brass chose Crowder in the third round of the 2005 NFL draft out of Florida.

On a recent episode of that podcast, Crowder details a story of him bringing a stripper in for the Dolphins’ rookie talent show.

“I brought strippers to the Dolphins facility. She walked in with nothing but a thong on and a Jason Taylor jersey, and she went up there, Nick was in a chair. She shook it for Saban. Nick Saban grabbed her hips, pushed her to the side and ran up the stairs.”

Saban was like, “Ms. Terry ain’t getting me.” Ms. Terry is Saban’s wife of 50 years. Saban, who’s very reserved unless he’s chewing his coordinators on the sidelines or coming for the media, was quick to get himself out of harm’s way. In fact, he got out of there just as fast as he left the Dolphins — a mere two seasons later to take over at Alabama.

As for Crowder, he’s got a ton of stories from his playing days that he’s always telling on the podcast, and this was just the latest.

Crowder Played Two Seasons For Saban

While much didn’t go as planned during Saban’s tenure with the Dolphins, as he finished with a 15-17 record in his two seasons. One thing that did go right was drafting the aforementioned Crowder, a tough, physical linebacker out of Florida.

Crowder did an interview in 2013 talking about how mad Saban would get following a loss, but how he overheard him laughing and joking on the phone moments after the team’s 2006 regular season finale loss to the Colts.

“He was laughing and joking. He was never like that following a loss; he was always ticked off. So we knew then that he was gone.”

Crowder is speaking of Saban leaving South Beach for Tuscaloosa, and leaving the NFL to go back to college, where he’d led the 2003 LSU Tigers to the national championship.

Saban Has Turned Alabama Into A Dynasty

One thing Saban won’t have to worry about is an Alabama player bringing a stripper into the facility during freshman initiation fun. The college and professional games are much different. Even with the new NIL and transfer portal craze going on in college athletics, no Crimson Tide player is bold enough to try that. And if they did, could you imagine the repercussions behind an act like that.

Saban seems to be focused on getting back to the College Football Playoffs, and trying to win a seventh title at Alabama. This after throwing his AFLAC buddy Deion Sanders and Jackson State under the bus in the latest NIL controversy, for landing the nation’s No. 1 overall recruit and then apologizing for his comments. That relationship seems to be mended, based on the new AFLAC commercial recently filmed.

As far as entertaining strippers go, Saban probably just wants to make sure he lives by that motto “happy wife, happy life.”
