‘Yo When We Gonna Say Drake Passed HOV?’: Twitter Users Came For Trae Young’s Hip-Hop Head

Atlanta Hawk Point Guard Trae Young set Twitter on fire when he alluded to Drake passing JAY-Z.

Today, Drake’s latest album, Certified Lover Boy, dropped on all streaming platforms, taking over social media’s collective consciousness.

However, aside from JAY-Z appearing on the album, no one was comparing Drake to Hov. All the comparisons have been steered towards Kanye West as his latest album DONDA goes virtually head-to-head with Drake’s CLB.

Originally expected to be released late last year, Drake’s first full-length album since 2018’s “Scorpion.”

However, Drake has been pandering to NBA players for years, and Trae Young’s co-sign is a subsequent reward.

In August, Drake released an athlete-packed music video for the song “Laugh Now Cry Later.” Drake’s music video was shot at the Nike world headquarters. It featured cameos by Kevin Durant, former NFL great Marshawn Lynch, and NFL star Odell Beckham Jr.

Drake also recreated LeBron’s draft-night look.

Subsequently, Twitter users came for Trae Young placing his judgment of contemporary rap culture in question.

However, Young might be advancing his trolling campaign against the city of New York. Young has a penchant for playing with the fans after the Hawks knocked the New York Knicks out of the NBA playoffs.

JAY-Z is a pillar of hip hop and the unofficial mayor of New York City culture wise.

But Young quickly clarified after being called out by native New Yorker and Utah Jazz guard Donovan Mitchell.

Drake’s album is a cornucopia of features. It also features Lil Wayne, 21 Savage, Rick Ross, Ty Dolla Sign, Future, Kid Cudi, and Young Thug.
